Interesting, but somehow sad, a form of death of classical acting.For example, at the beginning of such "false sets" back in 82 filming Tron, Peter O'Toole was considered for the part of Dillinger/Sark, but when arriving at the set and seeing just a bunch of plain walls with tape marks, baffled he said "well, where's the tanks?"Some might say "Peter's loss, and David Warner's gain." But, if we can't even get a typical city street corner without needing greenscreen, something is being lost.
